Built for edits that last

DevTools forgets.
This remembers.

Change a page the way you already do, or just point at it. Permanent Inspect Element keeps only what you changed and puts it back every time the page loads.

Save what you changed in DevTools

Edit text, attributes or styles in the Elements tab, then click Save in the side panel. Only the differences are kept, not a copy of the whole page.

Or just point at it

No DevTools needed. Click anything to change its text, color or size, or hide it. Every change previews live before you save.

Back on every load

Your changes return as the page loads. If the site was redesigned, a change pauses and tells you why instead of guessing.

Choose where each change applies

Keep a change on one page, across a whole website, or on every address that matches a path you set.

What people use it for

Make the page say what you need.

For clients

Mockups on the live site

Rewrite a headline or swap a color to show a client an idea before anyone touches the code.

For demos

Screenshots and tutorials

Change the text on a page for a demo or a screenshot, and keep it ready for the next take.

For focus

Less clutter

Hide banners, sidebars and other blocks that get in the way on sites you visit every day.

For reading

Easier on the eyes

Make small text bigger and harsh colors softer on pages you read often.

For design

Quick design tests

Try a new layout, color or wording on the real page before you write a line of code.

For work

Dashboards your way

Keep a personal setup for the tools and dashboards you open every morning.

How it works

Two ways to edit.
One Save button.

Open the setup guide
With DevTools

Your usual workflow, plus one click

Right-click the page and choose Inspect. Edit in the Elements tab, then click Save DevTools edits in the side panel.

Without DevTools

Point at it, then change it

In the side panel, click Or pick an element on the page, then select what to change. Edit its text or look, or hide it, and click Save.

Important to know

Your view only.
Your browser only.

Safe by design

Private by default.
Careful by design.

Your changes are saved as small pieces of data in your browser. They never leave it, and they never turn into code.

Private

No accounts, servers, syncing or analytics. Everything stays in your browser, and you can back it up to a file.

Careful

A change applies only when it finds exactly what it expects. If the page is different, it stops and tells you.

Limited

It can’t run scripts, load outside files, or read passwords or form fields.

Only where you allow

Your changes are saved and reapplied only on sites you give it access to. You can pause a whole site from the side panel without deleting anything.

For engineers

  • Manifest V3, Chrome 120 and newer, no build step.
  • A hidden DevTools page snapshots the settled DOM and diffs it when you click Save.
  • The background checks every change: allowed CSS and attributes, safe HTML, size limits.
  • A content script replays changes at load, checks each target and undoes cleanly.

Quick answers

Before you
make it stick.

How do I make Inspect Element permanent?

Make your change in DevTools or with the element picker, then click Save in the side panel. Permanent Inspect Element puts your version back every time you open the page.

How do I save changes made in DevTools (F12)?

Press F12 and edit text, attributes or styles in the Elements tab. Then open the side panel and click Save DevTools edits. Reload the page to check that everything comes back.

Can I edit any website?

You can edit any regular website you allow the extension on. Chrome’s own pages, the Chrome Web Store and PDFs can’t be changed.

Will other people see my changes?

No. Your changes appear only in your own browser. Everyone else still sees the original website.

What happens when the website updates?

If the part you changed disappears or moves, that change pauses instead of guessing. The side panel tells you what happened and how to fix it.

Is it a full webpage editor?

No. It is built for small visual changes: text, colors, sizes and hidden blocks. It can’t run scripts or change how a website works.

Does it collect my data?

No. There are no accounts, servers, syncing or analytics. Your changes stay in your browser, and you can back them up to a file.

Is Permanent Inspect Element free?

Yes. Install it free from the Chrome Web Store. No account is needed.

Stop redoing the same edit

Edit once.
Keep it every visit.
